This was the lot of Boethius, translator of the classics, Christian theologian and chief of staff for Theodoric the Great in the years after the fall of Rome to the Arian Goths. Boethius had fallen out of favor for his disdain of corruption in the court and was sentenced to death in a sham trial.

Faced with this inevitability, he wrote this book, a dialog with the personification of Philosophy herself wherein he grapples with his coming doom and reaches optimism in the consistency of wisdom and the higher order of the divine plan behind all lives.

It's worth nothing that Isidore of Seville's Etymologies has also undergone improvements, although these have been active and shipping out since early March 2023, and thus you already have them if you have bought the book since then. The improvements mostly include many more illustrations that are included in certain editions of the book throughout history, but also some higher quality versions of graphics and charts included in the original.

At all times minor improvements are being made to books, so input is always welcome. Note also that most all books now ship with more vibrant and glossy covers as well.

Last month I mentioned that Lulu had been backed up in printing and shipping orders. This issue has been resolved and books are going out in the typical timely matter for the past weeks now.

While previously they were facing delays of a full month, pretty much all orders should be in the mail within a week of ordering now. Note that if you do want to get someone a Christmas present, I still recommend being smart and ordering early, since there is always a chance of Christmas-related delays and backups.

Several American customers have contacted me saying some of their recent orders (that is, most of the orders in October) have had more than expected delay.

Don't worry, your order is not lost in the mail or in space. The American Lulu center has just had unseasonal delays in printing and shipping in the past month. Orders to other countries, including Canada are still going out fast as usual within several days, but American orders as I write this on the 22nd of October are backed up to the 7th!

This is not a total stall, they are still printing and shipping books, they are just behind. Some orders are arriving on doorsteps a full month after order in the United States! Unfortunately, this is just out of my control. I don't know all the particulars of the delay, so it might be resolved tomorrow or might persist to Christmastime.

If I were you and intended to buy a book for a Christmas present, I'd go ahead and place an order now, just to be safe! Even outside of America, that's a good idea since they are usually more busy in all countries then.

One of the reasons I haven't advertized this site too much on YouTube is the fear that I might overburden this small company Lulu with thousands of orders! So it's more of a secret for the more intellectually involved people as of now. Once all the cool kids get their books first, we'll let the masses in.

Its ten chapters live up to its title, containing not only counsel on the affairs of a king, but lifestyle instructions and even a formula for the Philosopher's Stone. The text speaks not only of Divine Will, but alchemy, astrology and the art of war.

This version, unlike most other modern English publications, is based on the earliest and most complete remaining Arabic texts. Many European versions of the Secret of Secrets were either censored, abridged or only partially translated, and thus many English translations contain only around half of this original content. This English version rectifies this which serves as a wholesome rendering of the earliest attested texts.

This volume contains four books: the Book of Enoch, the Secrets of Enoch (2 Enoch, or the Slavonic Enoch), the Revelation of Metatron (3 Enoch, or the Hebrew Enoch) and also the Book of Jubilees, an extended commentary of the book of Genesis.

While the Book of Jubilees and the first Book of Enoch have survived to us via the Ethiopian Church which treats them as canon, they are sorely underrepresented in the rest of the Church, despite the Book of Enoch being explicitly and implicitly quoted as scripture numerous times in the accepted letters of the New Testament.
